Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default difference in chokes?

I am looking for a turkey choke for mty Benneli 12 gauge - I am new to the sport. Do I even need a turkey choke or can I use my full choke?

I am seeing chokes from 20 - 50$, is there a real difference in performance?

Unfortunately, the only real way to tell is to try them. Every gun patterns differently, even with the same load/choke combo. If your full choke patterns well out to 40 yards, go ahead and use it. Patterning isn't cheap or easy, you should try different loads in different sizes from different manufacturers and see what shoots best. Then try different chokes and do it again. Keep it up until you find a choke/load you're happy with.

I agree with RIStrutStopper. You will have to get out there and try it for yourself. I figured that my gun would pattern somewhat the same as the next persons. This wasn't the case though. You don't have to spend a whole bunch of money on a choke. You can get a good decent one and then work on different ammo for that choke. Several people like the Undertaker choke and I believe it costs $20. Go and try that with several different loads and see what works best for you.

Although it's possible, chances are that an after-market tube will shoot better than your factory full with turkey loads. First of all those turkey tubes are choked quite a bit tighter than the factory tube. The reason that they extend past the muzzle is that the forcing cone is usually more gradual to allow the shot column to adjust to the tighter constriction with less chance of deforming the shot. And the constriction itself has a longer parrallel segment to hold the shot column at a smaller diameter for a while before exiting. Factory tubes are designed for a uniform shot distribution over the whole pattern. This is better for wing shooting.Whereas turkey tubes concentrate the shot in the center of the pattern where it counts.
Like r33, I'm a fan of Undertaker tubes.

I bought the truglo xtreme and just tested that today. Im shooting 4 shot and it did much better than the factory full choke. Up to 25 yards it definitly got the job done. I dont like shooting much past 25 yards so the truglo was a good bang for the buck for me. My guns a 11-87 SP with 26inch barrel. Im

Hello, first off what type of benelli do you have? Second I shoot Beretta shotguns and love them. I also like benellis. From my experience from my 12 gauge I would recommend the factory full choke given its not drastically off or somthing like that. I bought a turkey choke and it shot great at 35+ yards but after missing shots on 2 different groups of birds in one morning(one at 30 yards and one at 10)I changed back and havent given it another thought. I killed a turkey at 57 yards (miscalculation due to slope) and it was deader than a doornail. I personally wouldnt recomend shots over 40 yards. Given your full choke shoots well out of your gun at 30 yards. I would invest your money in a good call or possibly some true glow sights. If you call them in close and shoot straight you can kill them with a modifiedchoke (found that out by accident). But by far the biggest thing like they say practice makes perfect in everything that you do.
