Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Winchester Supreme

Saw theses at Wal-mart last night and was wondering how many like these and are they worth buying a box of ten for ten dollars? I couldn't find on the box if they are lead, copper-plated, etc...Anyone know?

Iv'e hunted with for years. They do probably have better shells on the market but if you call your turkey close enough it doesn't matter. He will still get waxed.

They are the only shells I have ever hunted turkeys with. I even took out two birds with one shot on my first ever turkey hunt. These shells are just as good as any other IMO.

The Winchester Supreme is lead. You can get copper plated also, but they are still lead covered with copper. The Winchester Xtended is the hevi shot type. It will run you around 29 to 34 dollars depending where you get it. It is worth the money though.

I have killed every bird since I won my Mossberg 835 5 years ago with these same shells in 3 1/2 in #4 or 5's and an aftermarket Undertaker choke tube. Knocks 'em dead for me, including one 2 years ago I shot at 45 yards that didn't even twitch. This is last years bird shot with the same combo @ 25 yards

Best load ever 835 mossberg 3 1/2 #4 federal lead. Until last year. Same gun only this time the federal hevi weight load. this is not lead shot but the high density bismuth type shot. Used both #6 and #4. Shots were from 15 to 48 yards. 5 birds dropped dead and shook. No flopping or wing flapping just fell over and shook. Unbelievable killing power on the hevi shot type of loads. Not partial to federal it just patterns better in my gun. Definately spring for the extra bucks and get the hevi shot loads. Also I do not shoot the xtra full choke I only shoot the full. Check your patterns. the xtra full will concentrate pellets and have holes in the pattern. the full is just more even in the same size circle. The hevi shot also patterns so well any way and stays so tight that I think it is almost over choked. At 20 yards who wants to shoot a small circle of shot? Asking for miss this close. Pattern your gun at 20 40 and 50 with the xtra full and the regular full on paper or cardboard look at your results it might amaze you.
