We've been seeing a white turkey on our place recently. She moves with 5-8 other hens and behaves just like them. She's very pale, creamy white with some tan feathers in wing and tail. Head is blue but lighter in color than the other hens.
How unusual is this? Do you folks ever see such birds?

could be farm turkey but most likely a color phase turkey. color phases are pretty rare, id take it if its legal where you live. pretty unique turkey. farm turkeys USUALLY dont live all that long when they escape into the wild.

You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try'
I've seen some of those light color phase birds around where I hunt and there legal to take here in Michigan. A friend of mine got one a couple years back in the spring , it's mostly white with some black and he had a full strut mount done.

Your right this is most likely just the colour phase. My nwtf committee just had a meeting and we were talking about the white phased turkeys and our biologist told use that there studys showing use now that the numbers of white turkeys are growing. I shot a white tom 2 years ago.
I suspect that the bird is not a farm turkey or I'd shoot it in a heartbeat.
For one thing, it can fly, something I understand domestic turkey can't do or not very well.
Here, the season is spring gobbler only so I guess I'll just have to enjoy watching her. She really is beautiful bird, if we can get a picture, I'll post it.
