Default Putting a scope on

I'm thinking about adding a scope to my Benelli for this spring's turkey hunts. What scopes do you all recommend? I'm really thinking about going with the Leupold VX-I.

titleist,

Many people have scopes on turkey guns. Couple things to consider.
1) Is your gun going to be thrown around, possibly takeing it off center?
2) If you are going to get a scope, get a small 1x4 or such to make the turkey easy to see in the foilage!
3) Price range!! they can get as expensive as you want or...$80.
4) a B-square scope mount enables you to use a scope or your beaded sight if you wish, this might be a good idea, but the only downfall is that you have to resight the gun in everytime you take the scope off!
Good luck and be sure to let us know what you decide!

I use a Nikon Monarch Turkey Pro - it has really taken a beating and it has stayed spot on.

Though I do sight in every year - but so far once there I ain't touched it.

titleist,
I put a simmons pro diamond 2X32 on my benelli almost ten years ago and it still gets the job done. I had my benelli drilled and mounted by a gunsmith. This is the bestway to go.If you have a new SBEII it is probablyispre-drilled.

The Nikon as JW mentioned is also a great turkey scope.

Can't beat that scope!! I've had one on my Win 1300 since 1992, and it's never let me down!! I like the Extra heavy reticle that comes with that scope, really shows up in low light situations. Go for it!!!

I like the Pentax SG-1 but it's rather expensive but it's a one time expense for something that will last a long time nad was designed for a shotgun scope.
