Does anybody hunt turkey in MN on here! I will be doing my first turkey hunt this year and I am thrilled! I wanna know how to identify a Tom cause it just seems like all I ever see is jakes and hens! Our land has two really big flocks, so it cant just be females can it?

Hi SRBowman: I'm from Mn. I live in Brainerd.I,ve been hunting turkeys in this state since 1988. Wish I would have started sooner!
Toms this time of year will be in bachlor groups away from the hens and jakes. Got 1 group of about 15 to 18 hensa mile or south of my place and a group of 4 gobblers about a 1/2 mile north of my place.Come spring, they willget together.
The toms are about 1/3 rd larger in sizethen the hens. Also, look for the tell tale beard on his chest. When spring finally rolls around and the toms get in the breeding mode, they will strurt and their heads will be in the colors of red, white and blues.
