Default New to turkey hunting

Hi everyone, my name is Dan and I am brand new to hunting turkey. I don't know very much about it. I would really like to know the best way to become a good turkey hunter. Such things like, where should I start. I would appreciate any and all the help I can get.
Thanx, Dan

First of all : welcome to the forums and second : welcome to the world of turkey hunting.
If you really want to learn everything about how to hunt turkeys in the spring or fall , then you should start reading books and magazines about it.
You can get alot of good information from all the good and wise people in here , but a good how - to book will help alot.
One book that I'll reffer too is called ( WILD TURKEY ) from the complete hunters series , you can buy this hard cover book just about any where that sell's sporting goods.
This book gives expert advice for locating and calling in big gobblers , not to mention subjects on social behavior , scouting , habitat , decoys and much more .
Do your self a favor and try to get this book if you can , it will be a big help.

Just search the web and read every site that has anything to do with turkey hunting. I would also get real familiar with the different turkey calls and when to use what call and how to actually make the call.

Once you step into the spring woods and hear that tom gobbling, you'll be hooked for life. Sure you want to start? Okay then, its a good addiction (although my wife wouldn't agree). Welcome aboard! Like RD said, read all you can. Search this forum for specific questions when you have them, and if you can't find the answers, just ask!

Hello,,,
In my opinion Fall Turkey hunting is some of the most challenging hunting there is... My advise to those who start is to talk to everyone you can about the subject and listen to some stories..(by the time your good at it you'll have some of your own)
I've seen birds do some pretty interesting things from dusting in creeks to staring down and attacking some guys cat.
The best thing to do for starters though is to get geared up and go do it. Your gonna make 300 mistakes and get beat a few times but if you keep at it... You'll be successful.
