Default Son's 1st LongBeard

My son Austin has been along with me on many spring morning hunts. Well today was his day. We have been chasing this dude for about a week, but with school @ 8 it has been king of tough. We have been close about 10 times. But this morning we were where the gobbler wanted us to be.At 0737@ 32 yds Austin sealed the deal, 21 lbs, 10 1/2 beard and 1" spurs.
As I sat beside him it felt like I had killed my first longbeard all over again.

I am not ashamed to say I had tears in my eyes when he brought his gobbler back to me....

I would not be ashamed of that at all either.

Congratulations and pat the boy on the back from all of us.

jghoff. He was shooting a 11-87 spst with the old Hevi 13 #6. The gun is short enough for him to hold. He has a 20ga 870 but with the season being this old I wanted the additional punch of the 12ga. The birds have been preasured here in Pa. His turkey had lead #4 and copper plated #6 in its breast. And I wondered why it was tough to kill.
