Default Specific calls vs Specific Gobblers

If a gobbler hears the same call being used often (my glass pot call) but is always henned up, think he'll get to know the call? not so much being call shy but just recognizing the call as being "that hen that doesnt show her face"?

May 1st i called a nice gobbler in, but a hen stole him away. we broke them up and then my buddy used a mouth call and called him back in only to have him spook away (saw us). Then on the 6th, i called him in again using the Glass pot and took him...so it would seem that the call used made no difference?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Default RE: Specific calls vs Specific Gobblers

I should also add, we have been after 2 birds (I assume gobblers) who have a harem of prolly 10 hens and some other jakes/gobblers with them. They roost in the same spot the last 4 times i went, they are the first to sound off and usually sound off the most. They had been going one way (opposite of us) so we got infront of them, and guess what...they went the other way. Last time out they were double and tripple gobbling on the roost and then just shut up. Im thinking the hens are leading them away from our calling, but then again, they never directly answered us off the roost.

These things are gonna get it, even if it takes us setting up a circle around them!! (figure of speech..very dangerous!)

They will Associate the call, once the hen's start to set you should have a good chance he will come looking for that hen that doesn't show.
You could use a mouth call or paddle box call.
If your buddy is with you go at it with fighting calls,It should bring the boss hen in to investigate thus bring the tom with her.
If you have two decoys set them up.
Good Luck to you
