Turkeys in ne missouri

Whats the mood of the turkeys this late in the game in NE missouri?

last weekend they were very vocal. However they were henned up. I wouldn't waste my time with a morning hunt. go out at about 9 oclock.

Hey guys,

I'm from MN, but I spent the last few days down near Kohoka, MO turkey hunting. We saw a lot of birds, and quite of few in the morning, although we didn't find them very responsive to calls. Beautiful area down there.

It's been real hit or miss here. They seem real hot for a day or two, then that's it for a while. There was a large write up in the local paper here that confirms what we have already suspected. The hens, for some reason, aren't going to nest. They are staying w/ the gobblas all day. Tells me the last weekend may be really good.

I have to say that in North central missouri the birds were very active. I harvested 2 in Carroll county. I thought it was a good season there. They werent henned up at all. Just my thoughts.
