After hunting Iowa's second season and not filling being able to fill my tag(although my wife filled her tag at least), it finally happened. 2nd season was only 5 days long and I only got to hunt 3 days but I was eligible for a 4th season tag which is runs till May 14th. Anyway I went out wednesday the 26th which was opening day and had an awesome hunt although I didn't get one. The forcast was rain friday through sunday but I went on out friday morning. Luckily it didn't start raining till the afternoon. It was cloudy and they weren't gobbling as good and 2 days before. I finally saw a hen and just as I was saying we need her boyfriend to show up, there he was. They were about 200 yards out. I made a few calls and in he came. Strutted and gobbled the whole way in. Until I hit him! It was a blast. The season has about 2 weeks left so I am going to be hunting with a couple of friend who still have tags. His stats were 20 lbs, 7/8inch spurs, and a 8 3/4 inch beard for a score of 55. That makes him the smallest bird I've ever killed, weight and score wise, but he was one of my favorites because it was such an awesome hunt. Here is a pic.
