Well today was the day folks. I got my first ever Tom. Albeit little it is still a good first start. My younger brother-in-law and his fiance went with me this morning to Red River just south of Clairedon, TX in Hall Cnty. We got there at about 6:00 and made a mad dash to setup because they were already gobbling in the roost area. we setup approx. 5-600yrds off roost (only area of cover), brother-in-law gave a quick cut on the box and we watched them come all the way across the river and right up the bank. a few more moments of purssuasion and I was starring at four with in 15 yards or less. Mine went into strut and then hit the ground like a rock. (One shot one kill) well needless to say it shook up the other three and they scattered to the air in oppisite directions. My brother-in-law took his at 45-55 yards in flight. come to find out he just knicked the wing enough to cause it to come down hard and the fall is what killed it not the shot.
I do not have any clue how to score it but I am posting the stats in hope there will be some kind sir/mam to show me how.
When they came up the bank in front of me, I thought I was going to scare them off my heart was beating so hard and fast I thought they would hear it for sure. Tell me there is anything out there in the world you can get such an adrenaline rush like that from.
