Default My 12 year old son - Part III - it happened! NOW WITH LINK

to recap real quick...

12 year old (NY) gets his license (10 hr safety course)
I buy him a gun-20 ga Mossberg 500-youth
We go to shoot and he doesn't want to!
We go out again with clay loads and I have to help him pull the trigger
We try a 3rd time- he shoots it!!! (YESTERDAY)

Today-opening day of Turkey in NY isn't until May 1st but they have a youth hunt for Saturday and Sunday...

We went out last night to scout didn't see anything...
Got up early, out to the woods, fairly cold and rainy to start, we get set up...

no gobbling and light callingbut after 2 hrs Mr Tom shows up w/2 friends and goes straight after my decoys...15 seconds later my son TAKES THE SHOT AND DROPS HIM!!! HE DID IT! I was so proud of him...I put in the turkey loads without him knowing and he said he didn't feel a kick at all and doesnt remember it being loud!

Thank you all for your help! You realy helped me through this!!

Say hello to Tom (me), Tom (my son) and Tom (he's the dead one!)
17 1/2 lbs, 9" beard, 1" spurs!

What a great day!
Heres a link to some other photos...notice the duct taped shooting pad!!

Sweet I didn't know if he was ever gonna pull the trigger, LOL joking. Tell him congrats on the bird. I have a cousin who wont shoot. He wants nothing to do with this sport. It all happened when his grandfather made him sit up in a tree stand all day on his first deer hunt without seeing a thing till later in the day. He said he wont do it again because its boring. oowell another one lost.

great job Tomcat....you must be so proud of your boy....congrats to him...and welcome him to the roost, right along with the rest of us WILD turkey hunters......
I had to minimize a pic too to attach it to a post...i had to download it to a photo manager like "coral photo center"...from there i had to scale the image to fit (but it takes away from the clearity)...[&:]

Congratulations to you both. Glad it worked out and I know you (he) would like the Mossberg. Let us see that picture.
