well i went out on opening day on the second pereiod here in wisconsin. First as i was walking the field eadg to my spot as i turned into the woods, i got the crap scared out of me as 3 different toms gobble about 30 yards infront of me still in there trees. So as luck would have it i knew i would get busted if i walked any further. so i wanted to sit agains a tree and hope the fly down and come by me. Well right as i got on the ground i snaped a twig and gone they went out in the field. So i walked dissapointed feeling that i just ruined the day for me and my cousin and dad, and i finally get the the dog house i set up just as light was comming. about a hour and a half later i thought i herd a hen to my right so i answered back, not knowing it was my own cusine calling. Before you know it i see this huge tom walking tward me. And know my heart is beating, and he is about 40 yards away, so i get the gun up and let him walk about 20 to 15 yards away from me, then i do a quick alarm cluck...up goes his neck and BOOOM!!! down goes my first gobbler. It was a great day and i feel honored to of been able to harvest him. THen that afternoon my cousin went back out and killed a nice jake near where i hunted. WEll here he is...
22 pounds, 10 in beared, and almost 1 in spurs. Shot with 12 gaguge, 3in shells.

Congrats... The the first is something you'll never forget. Very nice bird. Good job staying with it. It's amazing how when things don't start out all right how good they can get!
