Default Turkey Hunting is Like a Onion

The more I learn about turkeys and hunting them,
The more there is to learn

Kinda like a onion you take off a layer then theres
another layer then another layer and another layer.

I don't think you will learn all there is about hunting turkeys
Even if you did it 10,000 years

JMHO

Now what do yall think ?

jrbsr,

Have to agree with you. I hunted 21 or 22 strait days here, some days 3 or 4 hours and some 10. I got a turkey, we are allowed 3, but I just couldn't close the deal 4 or 5 times. I hunted one turkey we named whoopbutt because he whiped mine several times and he's still going strong. I hunted him so much and a friend tried him a few times, we even doubled up, the bird won. I know what he's going to do, but can't get ahead of him.

I learned more in those 20 or so days, than I've learned in years. But there's one thing that I had to realize, I was making careless mistakes. I'm so tired I didn't hunt today, and going to go fishing for a few days, then try again. I'll say this, if you do your part right, your chances go up tremendously.

I think you do obviously learn more and more with each hour in the woods. The one wild card though is that Turkeys are not predictable. If you think you got them figured out or patterned, they go and do something they "aren't suppose to" and blow your theory right out of the water! I love them birds! When you think about it, they are kind of like women...no man understands them completely.

I think it's the same for any animal you hunt. That's what makes hunting so fascinating, there is always, always something new to learn.

id have to agree........i love when you pattern birds down perfect....they do the SAME thing every day....roost in the SAME tree....goto the same places at the SAME time daily.....then when you goto hunt them they decide to change......and no they arent seeing me or busting me.....just how turkeys are........
