Default If at first you don't succeed......

Going out again tomorrow. Calling for my friend Jerry. Tough problem since we can't go into the DNR woods and must stay in the cornfield. Gonna use the blind as well as some motion in the decoys, call softly etc. Any other ideas would be appreciated

Andy

We discussed this earlier -I had another thought today however. You might consider going to WalMart tonight and buying them out of turkey decoys. Put 40 or 50 of them out there around your blind, like a big set-up for goose hunting. I'll bet they couldn't resist :-).

Let us know how it ends up.

Good luck

if you have some high ground in the cornlot you might want to place your dekes there...the more visible they are from those woods the more chance you have of drawing turkeys outa them...

yea and another good idea if you dont hit a bird in the morning in your spot dont just get up and leave because if you know there in there through out the day just wait it out a little while i did this last year we were hoping to hit one right away and it got light out at about 6 and there was nothing and i didnt get my bird till almost 9:30 we just waitied them out.

Just got back. no luck. Distant gobbling in the morning on the DNR land. Had a bad thunderstorm end the hunt at 11am. On the way back to the truck saw a lone turkey that promptly ran back into the woods. I think I can hunt these woods , but they're small. Is it possible that this is a tom or more likely a bred hen nesting in this area?
