Default Il opening report,jo daviess county

Hunted 2 days. Wish I could report good news. Idid have 2 toms come in to my set up 30yds away unfortunatly they were on DNR nature preserve land and were off limits. Could not get them to come out into the cornfield where I could shoot. Day 1 there was a riot of gobbling. Day 2 was subdued and then went completely silent. At 11oam I saw a coyote and knew why. Better luck next time(season4). Can anyone address the topic of adding motion to decoys

I'm headed just west of Stockton next Monday. I can't wait. I have a Buckwing bobin head hen that I'm trying this year.

Were they coming to a call at all?

Yes, on opening day at 9am two toms came in and strutted. Ikept the calling very soft, they gobbled several times, but wanted the hen to come to them i guess. Another hunter at the motel said they may have wanted motion and hence the fishing line idea. On this property I have to get them to come out of the woods and thru a barbed wire fence. On day 2 the calling was not there and at 11am I saw a coyote and decided to pack it in. I wish i could get into the woods !
