Default Day 15, Who Will Believe This!

My son hasn't been able to hunt since our season opened, and Sunday and Monday will be his first chance. He has never taken a bird with his bow and wants me to go with him and call for him. So today I decided I would just go to the woods, set up and listen, hopeing to hear a bird for us to hunt tomorrow.

Here's the kicker, NO GUN, didn't want to be tempted. I went to our deer camp, walked no more than 100 yds into the woods, sat down and listened. At 9:20 I finally heard a bird that sounded like he was at least a half mile or more away. He gobbled twice. I thought, lets see if he can hear me (wind was blowing pretty good). I used my box call, and he answered, I did it again, and he answered again. Would you believe, about 20 minutes later, one of the largest gobblers I've seen around here walked by at about 40 yds. He gobbled and kept moving, didn't hear him again and I wasn't about to answer. This bird may not even be the one I heard, Hope he'll do that tomorrow. Would give anything to call one in for my son and have him take it with his bow. Can't wait for him to get off work today to tell him about this, hope he appreciates what the old man did for him today. If not I might take that stick and string and whoop him with it.

That was him...I can feel it....it was Whoopbutt!......and now we know that bird has Physic powers and knew you did not have a gun!

Dog - if that don't beat all!

Say I will be absent as I leave in 10 hours or so......so do keep up this journal as I will check in as I can.

JW, I thought you was already in TN.

I don't believe that was whoopbutt I saw this morning, I was in a totally different area. Probably won't see that bird again in this lifetime.
