creating yelps, purs, etc. on mouth call...question
i was just going through some of my calls to prepare for the upcoming season (april 18) and i realized that i understand how to create the specific type of sounds with a slate call, but how would i go about creating specific sounds with my mouth call. How can i differentiate between a yelp and a cluck, or whatever it may be. I dont have the package or instructions for the mouth calls, so maybe it explained how to do it on there - im not sure. Im pretty sure a number of sounds can be made on each call, im just not sure how to go about doing it. It may have said on the directions. Like with my slate call, i have the directions, and it explains where, how hard and which way to move the striker in order to get the different sounds, im just a little confused about the mouth calls. Thanks alot again fellas.

Go to Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store and get.
A Primos Instruction CD called
Mastering The Art
Mouth Calls Made Easy
I allready knew how to make the yelp.
There are some sounds I couldn't have done with out this CD
And it came with 3 diaphragm calls
Its helped me a lot.
There are other CDs out there but Primos is what I got.
Hope this helps
Good Luck

This whats on the back of a Primos call package.
primos raspy cuttin 3-pac
Put the call in the middle of your mouth with:
1. Front of call facing out.
2. The notch goes to the right ensuring that the short reed is down when using a multiple reed call.
3. Your tongue should be 1/4" to 1/2" past reeds. Try different tongue positions for different sounds.
4. Press your tongue against the call to seal it in the middle of the roof of your mouth.
EXERCISES: Take a breath of air and blow out, forcing the air between your tongue and
the reeds to make a squeaking sound.
1. Cluck- Say, "plock" sharply.
Note the "p" is formed with your lips when you do this.
2. Yelp- Say, "cholk, cholk, cholk"
while trying different mouth positions and rhythms.
3. Cutting- Say, "pot, pot, pot". The lips come together for each cut.
4. Purr- Vibrate your vocal cords, similar to gargling.
Vibrate your lips or flutter your tongue.
The air comes across the reeds producing a very soft. controlled vibration.
5. Cackling- Say, "kit, kit, cat cat cat cat, cholk cholk cholk".
This call is easily achieved when the jaw is used to set the tempo and rhythm.
6. Kee Kee- Say, "pee pee pee".
Make a high note, starting and stopping the flow of air with your lips.
7. Kee Kee Run- Say, "pee pee, cholk". Proper fit is important. If necessary trim the outer tape to fit comfortably in your mouth.
I hope this helps

I walked in there to buy a turkey video and it was all replaced with fishing stuff, that sucks. But, either way, i will def. buy the primose at bass pro. Thanks alot fellas, it realllly helped alot.
