Default These gobblers around here are so...... FINICKY!!!

Ok, we have hunted this land this season a total of 4 times, 1 was close to success. The first time=2 gobbles far off- 2nd time=no gobbles but hens talking to us in the trees and one hen come into setup-3rd time= 30+gobbles all morning from probably 3 diff gobblers, one came over a fence 75yrds out with two hens my dad thinks (he had binocs and I couldnt see him due to a small rise in the field, but my dad says he saw his body and a red head- so he knew it was a gobbler) but he said he mosied off soon after, probably a little spooked, but it got windy right after they shut up and no success -4th time= no gobbles, and heard one hen talking to me back in the woods, we have hunted the same field every time, but in different spots, twice (1st and 4th time) in the same spot. But you see, it was a little cooler and there were hardly any clouds out, but they all shut up. I just dont understand..... Any suggestions/ anwsers to why their seeming to be so finicky? Were gonna get one of these gobblers I hope but its a matter of how and when.

Are you on public land? Because in 3 days of hunting public land in GA, I have only heard 1 gobble on opening day early.. then nothing! Before the season I spotted several flocks.. but of course you dont see them when the season opens.
We have pretty heavy hunting pressure here, so I dont know if it because of that or if the mating season is just not in full swing here yet.

Anyway, I plan to get out there any chance I get.

I too am from Ga,and I am experiencing the same thing, the birds just don't seem to be into it yet, almost like they are a week or two behind.A little gobbling on the roost, shut up when they hit the ground....or some have not gobbled at all until an hour after daylight. You hit the call, and they seem to just shut up...or they come all but just enough.I have had 5 birds come to within 70yds and then put the brakes on,and then walk away.[&:]

Along with an enormous amount of people all day long on Ft.Stewart(Soldiers are back)I am having a very hard time.Every where I go I see people,or they come in on me.I have even had a couple of people sit and wait for me to come out,so they can go right in behind me.I actually had called a hen into a food plot yesterday afternoon at 5pm,I was hoping she had a tom close by...and then a red jeep with a german shepard comes rolling up to the foodplot, and runs her off.All he could say is oops I guess I should have turned around when I saw your truck back there....Yes it is getting that rediculous, and I'm starting to lose my cool with these people.Just keep at it bro, something will happen.
