killed my first turkey opening day

man i been waitin for about 4 months now for that day. took my first gobbler saturday at 6 45!!!! he gobbled on the roost 1 time then flew dowm and came lookin for his love. he gobbled all together 6 times and he got about 50 yards out and we had a jake and hen decoy set out. he seen the jake.........and it was on haha he took off runnin toward the jake decoy and about 25 yards out i layed him down. haha he was nice too 21 pounds with a 10 inch beard on him. you talk about hooked now. just give glory to God.

congrats!! good job...and good bird!!! you think your hooked now....wait till it REALLY sets in.....i sacraficed sleep for the month of May last season lol...id sleep 3 or 4hrs a night....get up and hunt...goto school for 4hrs in my wet nasty camos.....THEN id work 10-12hrs a day...and that was danged near every day..except saturday and sunday...but i still didnt get to catch up on much sleep...when the season closed i went home and took a lonnnnnnng nap lol....looking back at last year id have to say i was plain nuts....and surprised i didnt get sick or anything over it...buttttt looks like the same may be instore this year.....i get out of school in the middle of the season now...but my grandma may beable to get me a job for the summer....good money so ill definently take it...but ill be working night turn...get to the spots a little late but you know ill still be hunting! lol

Congrats on a nice bird and a good hunt. My season doesn't open for about 3 weeks. I am going through my gear today as its raining . Once you get the fever there is no cure.
