I would run the 3" 1 5/8 oz of #6 Hevi turkey load over the 3" 1 1/2 oz #5 load .

I use a 11/87 , UnderTaker Turkey tube and a reload of 1 5/8 oz of #6 Hevi that is dead ringer for the Rem loads .

I get parrerens that ruin turkeys days past the ehtical range I feel I should stop at ( 45 yds )

IMO a Red dot or low power scope is a good idea for Turkey especaly if you run Hevi because up close ( 20 yds or less ) the parrerens I get are so tight , it would be easy to miss .
I have removed the head from several birds .

Good luck and have fun

Thank you for the advise, I have thought about a scope maybe for next yr. You have me thinking more about getting one.

I am shooting an 870 with the Rem. Hevi-shot choke, .671 const.
is what it measures, with a 3 1/2 inch Rem. Hevi-shot 1 7/8 oz.
# 5 shot load. At 40 yards the other day I had 59 hits in the
Quaker Boy turkey target at 40 yards. Most of the hits were in
the head and neck area. Now I am not saying I can do this every
time but the combo. sure looks good to me. I feel confident to
my max. shooting distance which is around 45 yards, I like them
closer though. Good Luck!

Thank you, that combo sounds very nice, I may try it and see what it does for meThis season though I am going with the h.s. undertaker as I have wanted to try it for some time.
Thanks for the Info! Yours is next on my list!
