Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Opinions about the Strut Seat

Hey everybody,

What does everybody think about the strut seats, first manufacturered by HS?

I'm always looking for ways to relieve stress on the back, and the seat seems like an excellent source.Spring in the Northeast is typically prone to sudden and drastic changes in temperature and pressure, which can wreak havoc with one's back muscles...

To me, however, the seat seems bulky and just one more piece of hardware to lug, and possibly cumbersome forquick setups.

Those of you with experience, I would love some input/comments.

Thanks,
S&R

Slips over my shoulder and weighs nothing. I have had it get caught up slipping through thicker stuff. When worse comes to worse I slip it off and just leave it if I have a crawl or something for that final few feet before set up. When I just go out and sit down I am thankfull I have it for sure.

The plastic brackets did crack on me when Iwas sitting on some uneven ground. Not as strong as I would have expected. Being Canadian I of course have black hcokey tape It did fix it up nicley and is stronger than before. That's the only complaint I have.

If you do major running and gunning in thick brush it would be a pain but otherwise I am a fan of having it.

The strut seat works ok.

Cons- can be difficult on uneven ground, in wet weather I have had the legs sink into the moist groundand tilting me off the seat, hangs over your head/shoulder and slides around when bending over and going through brush etc, very unnatural hollow tubenoise if it hits a tree on your way by, still need a good pad on top after many hours/days of hunting

Pros - keeps you off the wet ground, light for its size, the "two way" leg sizes can make up for slanted ground

Where I hunt there's not much for big trees so I opted for a Wedge Supreme hunting seat because it is self-supporting meaning I don't have to lean against a tree. That part is heaven. On top of that, the pad is really thick making it quite comfy on theold backside. However, that thing is so darn bulky I'm back in the market for yet another solution. So far I'm considering the Little Big HornGobblers Vest and the Niff-T-Seat.

I like the seat. I had the plastic break clean on some uneven ground. HS said they would replace it, but I took it back to Dick's and they exchanged it for me. I have a nylon strap that I use to strap my decoys to the seat when I'm on the move.

I don't go in the woods without it.
Saves the movement of always repositioning my back end that has cost me turkeys before.
