Default question about turkey loads??

i when out and purchased a couple different turkey loads last weekend, one being the new federal in 3in. and i also got remington nitro i think is what they is, my question is, on the remington box it says that it is copper plated or something and i was wondering if this would hurt the barrel on my mossburg 500?? also are these good loads? being this is my first year turkey hunting i dont know much about it, i went last year but that was with my uncle, and this year i want to try and take on the challenge of doing it my self this year. thanks

The copper plated shot will not harm your barrel. The shot is plated so it won't deform and will produce a tighter pattern.

I think the remington nitro turkey loads are not copper plated but they claim it is as round and will perform as well as other copper plated shells. The hevi shot is actualy a combination of 3 different metals(I think) that are more dense and weigh more than lead. As far as it hurting your barrel, I have shot heavy shot out of an older model mossberg 835 with the factory xtrafull turkey choke and it hasn' hurt my barrel or the choke and still patterns as good as it always has. I think the factory chokes are fine as long as you don't shoot hundreds of rounds of heavy shot through them.

I only shoot Federal 3" mag. They pattern well in my Mossberg 500.

Pellet energy is what you need to take down a boss gobbler, and Federal's new 12-gauge, 1 1/2-ounce load scoots out the muzzle at 1,315 fps, providing more power downrange. Available in Nos. 4, 5 and 6, the copper-plated lead shot is buffered for uniform patterns, and the Triple-Plus wad column provides a positive gas seal for consistent performance.
