Default Preditors effect gobblers

Here in WV, for the past couple a years, the coyote popution has exploded.
I have a brother who has trapped over 30+so farthis year.
I think this effects how much the gobbler gobbles and I know this has to make him more alert when he does.
I'm sure in more than one occasion, they must haverang the dinner bell for a hungary coyote.
For the past 5 yaers or so the turkey seem to be acting differently than they used to.
On roost you may if you are lucky get an answer 2 to 3 times tops.
When they hit the ground 5 to 6 times tops.
Then silence.
In the past, one might get henned up but, that only seemed to fire him up all the more.
What do you think?

I agree that coyotes may shut them up, but so do hunters with their pre season calling and scouting.Even with coyotes around they shouldnt come to your call any less for that reason. I too miss the toms getting all fired up with their gobbling. Now they come in silent and you have to be ready. Although some mornings they arehot but not like they used to be. Maybe they are just getting smarter.

Sounds like a good time to take up 'yote hunting. I like to hunt competitor and predator species of my favorite game. It provides a different challenge and keeps up your favorite game population. For example: crows, possum, skunk and raccoon effect quail and pheasant populations. Also, worse than anything are feral house cats.
