Trim the outer part of the call just a little(1/16") to fit your palette. And, practice, practice, practice! If you can't use them confidently use another type or kind of call. Try a regular double or single reed. Good Luck!

I trim it and bend it somewhat to fit the roof of my mouth. Just remember that some of the frames are plastic and cant be bent. I use the triple reed from Quaker boy and its frame is metal and easily bends to fit. Quaker boys are my favorite mouth call.

my problem is my gag reflex. i can't seem to keep the call in position so i only use slates and a box call. guess i'm out of luck with mouth calls.

Did you trim off some of the material on the call. If so your placing it too far back in your mouth. Maybe trim a little more off of it as well. You shouldnt hit the gag reflex button in your mouth.
