Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Federal FliteControl

Has anyone patterned these?I am a big fan of WIn HV,but I am willing to try anything, for a better pattern.I prefer lead.I see that win HV,and flitecontrolhave the same velocity, and they both have 2oz loads in the 3.5" shells.I had similar results from both brands with pre-flitecontrol wads, and I was curious if there was a noticeable difference. Thanks!

i have only one year under my belt hunting turkey but i started off using the flightcontrols and like them. i am using my stock choke and get good results with #4 and #5 shot out of my moss. 835. one thing i have noticed is that the wad does travel quite a bit farther than the winchesters and remington loads. just posted to see if anyone else uses flightcontrol with my rig and how it's been working for them. good luck thisyear bro

Thank you for responding,Jimmy.I did alot of research today, and it seems that flitecontrol works best with unported chokes. It is actually recommended by federal to use unported chokes with these shells. The reason being that most ported chokes are designed tostrip the wad from the load, and inthis case the wad is not designed to be stripped from the load. That is why most people get poor results with ported chokes, and flitecontrol shells.

Set-ups like yours, and unported chokes like the undertaker, showed the best results.

Hopefully this info will help someone else also.

ranchand99, all I can say is last year prior to season in NY I patterned with Remingtons. Then I read about the Federals and got some. With changing nothing, I was getting 5-10 more pellets in the vital area and could tell there were more pellets in the 10" circle......... I will be using them from now on! [8D]

Almost forgot, using a Mossberg 835, 28" ported and Undertaker Choke [8D]

Thank you guys!I am going to pattern a box of Fed. flitecontrol 3.5" 2oz #4's,against my trusty Win HV 3.5" 2oz #4's.I'm shooting an 870 Super-mag W/28" barrel.I am going to test them both with a star-dot(.670),mad-max(.665),undertaker(.665),tru-glo gobble stopper Xtreme(.665),and a H.S Undertaker(.675) @50yds.

There's no sense in doing a comparison at any lesser distance,as this gun doesn't start to have any noticeable spread in the pattern until after 45yds.I will report back later....

I shot the Fed HW FC #5's threw my factory full and they shot pretty good... But then I shot some Win Extended Range #5's threw my undertaker and blew the Fed HW FC away!!! The only thing about the Fed loads was they hit a little harder...
