Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I've had them for about a year and yes they do work, but there are down sides to them. I use mine for duck hunting and skeet because I've had a lot of hearing loss and I'd like to keep what I've got left and they work great for this. So here come the down sides and the reasons I didn't use them turkey huntin last year.
(1) They are hot... right comfortable during duck season though
(2) Distance of sound is hard to judge.... things sound a lot closer than what they are
(3) I can't tell how loud I'm calling... not so much an issue with duck hunting

With one bad ear and one descent ear I have trouble judging direction but with these muffs I have no problem with direction at all just distance. Might try them this spring since I've gotten more use to them.

fantail is right on all 3 counts

Now they are designed to shutdown muffle sound over 85 decibels. Are great when I trap shoot. I am like Fantail have one shot ear and one that ain't all that good. And I have always worn hearing protection - just one day one ear was deaf!

I was very frustrated last year in Michigan as I could not hear the gobbles my buddy who was sitting rith next to me and he could!
So I paid the money and I am very satisifed. Due to one ear being rather deaf Fantail is right one - one is deirectionally impaired....learned to turn my head more towards the sound...

This deer season I could hear deer coming - I could hear bleating - I will not go out into the woods without them.

Shooting trap I can hear the brass hit the ground - haven't hear that in years - it was real treat.
Batteries last a good long time - they use Type N I think. I do carry an extra set.
The Walker Game Muffs or the model I have does have 2 microphones on each ear set. You can set bass and treble. The on off switch is easy to get at - but I don't think they are waterproof! So I am careful about that!

The Walker's muffs start at 150$ in cabelas and go up to around 400$ for the new digital muffs. The quad muffs I have were 200$.

Don't know if they're any better but they will cost twice as much as the muffs if you want them in both ears. If you just have one in you'll lose your ability to tell direction of sound.
