I hunted the 3d week last year. We had a lot of gobbling, but we couldn't get them away from the hens. I'd prefer hunting the 4th season. It seems that there are more hens nesting in another week. We've had better success later.

WE always go after the 5th season!
Got it again......though last year - lots of activity right up to the night before the opening day - and then 3 days of cold wet rain.....we all saw birds - I did have 3 times I could have shot a Jake at less than 20 yards - but I passed!

From my scouting right up to Tuesday night roost - I saw 37 major mature Toms!

We feel that if we could have had one more week - the whole pass gas sideways they coming run in thing would have happened!

But that is why I hunt...got alot of good videos of those that did not come in....

I hunted 3rd week last year. Lots of gobbling but couldnt get any to come in after3 days of hunting. On saturday, I shot a hen with a 7 1/2" beard. Hope the toms come in this year because I got 3rd week too. In previous years, Ive seen lots of turkeys and tracks. This winter I havent seen one turkey and only a few sets of tracks. I also had good luck the 6th week and called in 2 toms before dark one night, missed, the next morning I hunted where they flew off to the night before. Shot one 10 minutes after I got into the blind. Cant wait until they start gobbling this year. Im hunting right across the road from my house so I can stand on the frontporch and pattern them and hear them gobble. Good luck
