Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Tail feathers

I myself always save my tail fans, beards and legs (spurs). I always dry and cure them and make the tail fan in full strut. How many others do the same thing. Ive seen others just breast a turkey out and throw the rest away. To me all the turkeys Ive killed are trophys. I also hang everyone on my walls.

I have too much stuff on the walls already.[8D]We have a small space to live.3br,living room.2bath.kitchen.I have already gotten a bobcat,fox,4 deer,a tail fan w/beard,and 2 turkey cape mounts.Tomorrow I'm going to take another deer to the taxidermist. So,I can't keep them all. Some get shot up,some lose feathers flopping around.

When I shoot a turkey.I run up to them, and push my hand on their body.I then grab both legs, and then lay on him until he stops moving. This is the best way I have found to keep him from damaging his feathers.I have started to fix capes, and give them to friends, since I have no more room. This is what one of my capes look like.I was holding the camera a little crooked to get the light to make the feathers shine....

I do the same. I always keep the beard, spurs and fan. I like to get a picture with everyone as well.

Some of the more hardcore bowhunters save the tailfeathers for arrow fletchings too.
