Default turkey hunting

My name is CJ Wilson. I am from arkansas and i'm19 and have been hunting sincei was 5. I joined a new lease this year in the ozark Mountains. I loveturkey hunting and i am really good at it but i have never hunted for them in the mountains. I was wonderin if there was any different techniques used for huntin them in the mountains. Should I be on tob of the moutain or below it. Please let me know some tips... Thanks

It's no different than hunting them any where else other than....

It's easier to call a turkey up hill so if a turkey sounds off above you, you'll want to get either on the same level as the bird or above them. It's tough to call turkeys downhill because they can look downhill so well and scan an area...more times than not they'll hang up...when calling them uphill there's a better chance that you'll see the bird before they see you as well.

Also, trying to hold your shotgun up in the air towards an uphill approaching bird is tough.

Other than those little tidbits....good luck.

Countrymudder, where about in the Ozark mountains are you
hunting? I live at the foot the Ozark National Forest near Clarksville.
You might try to get on a flat or a bench to set up.
