Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default New Barrel, or get inserts?

I have an 870 that has a 28" modified barrel on it. I've been calling around, and apparently no one locally can tap it so I can use screw in chokes. One store does have a new barrel with 3 chokes for 200 bucks...but I hate like heck to spend that much if I don't have to. What do you guys suggest? Thanks guys.

did you try gunsmiths??? i know most will beable to thread your barrel to take chokes...not sure who you tried to have do it locally....200 bucks for a barrel is a big chunk of change....i think thats a little high priced too! i dont think it should run you more then 150 bucks...shop around for an 870 barrel....shouldnt be hard to find a factory replacement fairly cheap...cheaper then 200 atleast....but id look for a good gunsmith to have it take chokes first...

I called the gunsmiths in the phone book, and none of them were able to do it...they said the equipment costs too much...I'll have to check some of the shops out in Amish country...they probably have everything.
