Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Mauser,

If they are still on sale, go get a box of all 3 sizes, that's the best way to decide---the actual pattern itself.

Personally, I find that 6s have always given me the densest pattern, from any gun. However, the shortest barrel I have is 24", and with your's being 21, you may do better with a larger shot size (ie, it won't start to separate within the barrel as much before leaving the muzzle).

With that said, I've also personally found that with the newer tungsten (hevishot and counterparts) loads, there's very little difference in pattern density amongst the shot sizes. I did find, however, a large difference between the Winchester X-tended Range and the Rem Hevi-shots. Winchester's vastly outperformed, and I dropped my first bird of the season cold at 43 paces (~ 48 yards) with X-tended 6's.

The only downfall is that under 25 yards, the pattern is so constricted it's similar to shooting slugs, and turkeys don't like to keep their heads still [8D]

Good luck...
