..last day... biggest gobbler I've shot at in years... begged to be killed. After 7 minutes, I couldn't hold the gun at that angle(cross body) anymore... forget shifting..birds' at 50 yds... he started at bottom of the ridge...I was above him 100 yads down the ridge...he gobbled a gazillion times from the same spot.AT THE BOTTOM...next time he's on TOP(thats a 100 yd span, in less than 2 minutes) I couldn't believe it.. now he has the high ground....not good. it rained HARD yesterday, lotsa runoff... lotsa slick wood .... blowdowns everwhere, what's he doin' in this crap?.... hes' close...60 yds out.. movin' towards me from above(stayin' above me) decent set up.. but not if he keeps movin' past me...he does.... he stops at 50 yds past me, and struts...spits.. gobbles....double gobbles.... I'm pinned.period... I'm now facing WRONG way.... have to shift....mud/wet stones..steep hillside... EAAAAASY....there... now did I mention the Fog?...or the sweaty steamed up glasses that I need to see said bird?...this can't be happenin'...... Ok..I'm tryin' to wipe lens of rt. eye with camo glove... as in past 23 yrs, it's hopeless...never ending battle there... bird starts down the hill quartering towards me.. it's WIDE OPEN... how far?..dunno, it's now or never... gun weighs 457 lbs by now...leaning at 45degrees, bbl canted same.. BLAM.... .....airborne bird.. 2nd shot= wasted shell, but futile attempt is made. I search for bird for 30 minutes, just in case.....I only carry 3 rds at any time, so 1s left.... Hmmmm.... nah, how'd my truck get back home.........................

Rem dont know if it would of helped in this situation but the last few years I've been using a shooting stick and really like it...just a thought...
