It really depends on how much money you want to spend and the application for which the camera will be used. Do you want IR or white-flash? Stills or videos or both? I will say that you usually have to spend in the neighborhood of 150-200 to get a good reliable camera. jrsbr bought a $50 cam..other than gettin stolen the 1st time, it took great pics...i'd shop around.
there is a company ...their sales pitch is....5 different cams under $100...but i cant member who.

Under $100 it would be a wildgame innovations ir4 cam. I bought it at farm and fleet for $75. Around $120 I really like the stealth cam i890 rogue, it takes great pics and has good battery life.
