Default bear eating cameras

I have had 3 ir cameras attacked by a bear in the last month. How do i keep them from doing this? Is it the scent or the infer red leds that they don't like. Two cameras at one property and another over 30 miles away. One is moltrie one stealth cam the other primos. The moultie was attacked twice in two weeks at differant sites. The last one ripped it off the tree and the cable was still there around the tree. Found the camera 8' from the tree with a bite mark in the lcd screen. Thought about the steel box but then it might be stuck inside after being stepped on. any ideas

Are you checking the cameras with the scent of bait on your hands?

I would def go with a heavy duty security box. That way the box would absorb most of the damage. The bear is probably smelling something from your hands. Might even just be the salt in your skin. Try wearing rubber gloves.

Offtopic, but for a sec there I thought the thread was about cameras that eat bears... I guess that's what happens when you don't get enough sleep.

Look into these boxes: http://camlockbox.com/

I think they small the batteries, reason I say this is they have dogs that can detect cell phones in the prisons, they detect them by way of the battery, I was told they give off a scent that we of course can't smell
