Bushnell Trophy Cam XLT - Viewer or Non-Viewer.....How Do You Like Yours?
I'm in the market for a few new cams after the new year for my large lease/semi-guided service I have in Illinois. I was doing some research I read many reviews on the the Bushnell Trophy Cam both the XLT (with viewer) and the non-viewer, both seem to get very good reports, but I would like to hear the reviews from those that own them, and how they are, pros and cons.
I have a 2010 TC. The first one I got had some issues so I sent it back to where I got it and it was replaced. So far, it has worked very well. As for a viewing screen, I don't have that model but I personally don't like them. They are usually too small to really tell very much and I don't enjoy standing out there feeding the mosquitoes while I scroll through the pics. My Leaf River has a viewing screen and I can barely see it in bright sunlight, so I don't even use it. A better idea for viewing pics in the field is a digital camera that takes sd cards or one of those digital picture frames that operates on batteries. Hope this helps.
Blessings.....Pastorjim

BOWHUNTERCOP: I have seven of the 2009 model Bushnell Trophy Trail cameras with the viewer. All the cameras were purchased in the spring of 2010. The first ones were purchased with the viewer. Being I had good luck with those cameras, I then purchased the rest in that same series. As far as the cameras, I have had excellent service with them, excellent battery life. Bushnell is the only manufacturer offering a two year warranty. Excellent customer service. The cameras have been in the field since mid to late March.
As for the viewer, I would not spend the extra money on it. The 2009 model viewer is 1.8 inch. I understand the 2010 viewer was going to be larger. Just swap out your card and view it in the computer as I'm doing. Some forum members view the cards on laptops or these picture screens that most malls sell. I checked some of these out and inquired from a few people that have them. From what I could find out you can view pictures, but not video.
I contacted Moultrie because they sell a picture viewer. They said it will view pictures taken with Moultrie cameras but could not guarantee it to work with other camera brands. Due to this information, I didn't buy one. If my cameras were all set for picture, then I can view them in the field with my Digital Kodak DX7590. Hope this helps.
I have a bushnell trophy cam a moultrie and a spypoint pro x. I would say the trophy cam is the best camera out of all three, which kind of disappoints me because i just bought the spypoint last week for almost 300 dollars more than the bushnell cost me. The spypoint has the best clarity out of all three, but the bushnell still takes decent pictures and i find it has faster trigger speed.
viewer is worthless no detail and if it is sunny forget it, great cam though

I'm not going to worry about looking at pictures in the field and the viewer screen isn't that big to see any real detail. I have never purchased one with a viewer because of these reasons.
