Depends on what your deffinition of cheap is. I have a Moultrie D40, yoiu can pick one pf these up for around $100 or less. Takes ok pictures, but has a very slow trigger speed. I also have 2 Cuddeback Captures, these go for $199, but they are twice the camera that the D40 is. You will get lots of opinions about different cameras here. Good luck with what ever you decide.

If You go too cheap you'll live to regret it later on!

Like BigDaddy mentioned, the cheaper Moultrie Camera's are "OK" but since they are slow its best to set them over a feeder or food plot to catch any Deer pic's. where the Deer are going to be staying for a while....the Cuddebacks are going to be faster and better over trails, fence crossings and area where the Big Bucks may travel. You can find several Stealth IR Camera's on sale at most Sporting Goods Stores and in the discount magazines like Sportsmans Guide, and they are pretty good camera's too,I like my Moultrie I-60 IR camera because it takes some great day and night pictures and it has lots of different settings and a fast trigger speed.Another good camera that seems to really good and affordable is the Bushnell Trophy Cam and the newer model called the "Bone Collector" Series with it 8.0 megapixels might be the way to go in a great a camera with fast trigger speed,IR capabilities and some good picture quality! You can also check out different quality camera's,prices and reviews and the following Sites.

For my money, there is nothing I've seen that takes better pictures than the Moultrie I-40s and I-60s. Yes, the trigger time is not as good as the Cuddes but the moultries do have a few advantages. The I-40s are beginning to come way down in price because they are going to quit making them after this year. I have seen them for as little as $135.00 new and even cheaper over on AT used. As has been stated, chasingame is a good place to learn about almost any camera made and www.trailcampro.com is a great place to read reviews and to purchase from. Also, if you call trailcampro, they are always happy to give you advice.

I tried to get the cheaper cameras to save money, but I definitely regretted it. So I broke down and bought the little bushnell trophy cam and I have been very impressed. I found it online for 160 and it has a 1 year battery life, IR, super fast trigger speed, a built in viewer, and so much more that you can customize. Plus its so tiny!

Yea the price is up there, but the pictures are great and the batteries last a LONG time. So it gets my vote

There are alot of good cameras out there so good luck!!

I just recently purchased four Bushnell Trophy Cameras. These are the 2009 model with the viewer. This 2009 model has been out for a while so it has been well tested. I have mine set for video which is very clear, set at 30 seconds. I sooner view a video as compared to the still picture now that I have that option. On this one the viewer is small. I only use it for set up. The camera has to be shaded out of the bright light to view the set up screen, which in this case is the viewer screen. Bushnell has excellent two year warranty and great customer service. Use care with the buckle system.
I have had access to a total of 14 WildView Ez Cam that I operated using the 12 volt external power supply. When they worked, fine, but something fails in the 12 volt wiring system. Very poor customer service (two weeks, no answer to email). 4 of these were replaced by the local dealer.
I have two SpyPoint IRB which will also take video. These are operated using the 12 volt external power supply. Very good pictures and video. Good customer service. These two were returned for warranty due to a fault in the twelve volt system. I received two for replacement. One of these failed soon after in the 12 volt system. I am running it now on the "C" batteries due to warmer weather.
I have only used Bushnell for about three weeks, but would place them as Bushnell 1st: Spy Point 2nd. and Wild View a distant 3rd.
I am not knocking other brands. I only speak from personal use. Hope this helps.

I've been using a Bushnell Trophy Cam since April '09 and have had no problems so far. The 2 year warranty, small size, battery life, and no remote needed for programming is what influenced my decision. I'm running 3 of the '09's and plan on purchasing several '10's.
