I got these last fall and posted but was aske dto post again so here are a few from the tasco camera I had that was stolen. As far as I know no one shot any of these bucks either so hopefully they are still around.
The camera was out for about a month. It was on it's third set of batteries(going into week six, but I used ultra cheap batteries, $1/2 pack) so battery life isn't great, but the trigger speed is acceptable for trail use and the picture quality is pretty good for a $79 camera. I had gotten a total of about 200-250 pictures and almost all had game on them. Temperatures were hitting the upper twenties at night. It's easy to set up, but security is an issue and I would definitely invest in some sort of lock box or something if/when I purchase another.
bandgod thanks for posting the pics. but after looking at the pics and you posting about the battery life problems I will stick with the Xtreme 4,5 and D-40 cams. Thanks again for posting them. Pike
How long could I expect the batteries to last in those camera's? How is the trigger speed? If the D40 is a moultire I wouldn't use that simply because I put my camera's on trails and the moultrie trigger speed wouldn't capture the game on the trail from what I've read regarding trigger speed. I think if I used energizers I would have seen much longer battery life. The batteries I used were $1 for two batteries and they still lasted about 2 weeks which is what I've heard Cuddes will do. How much do the wildview extreme's run??
The D-40 and Xtreme 4,5 cams have a battery life of 7 weeks or about 880 pics. ( which is very important to me considering I live 5 hours from my property and most of the year only get out every 4-6 weeks to check my cams) using generic batteries that cost $2.50 for a pack of 4. (both C and D batteries)
The picture quality of both day and night pics froms either make blows the Tasco pics you posted away but as you said the trigger speed is slow but when I place my cams
along trails etc. I just post them 12 + feet from the trail and I get the entire deer in the pic 99% of the time.
Both the Xtreme 4 and 5 cams regular price is around $80.00 but I wait for them to go on sale and or have rebates and never paid more than $60.00 for one. Pike
I have a tasco camera and the battery life seems to be great for it. Been out for 9 weeks and had no issues with the batteries until this week. And considering the amount of deer activity I have on that camera it does GREAT! The Tasco is the the same as the Bushnell cameras also, so you can buy bushnell lock boxes and they fit those cameras. I know this because my uncle paid 170 for a bushnell and i got a tasco for 100, they are identical other than one is brown, one is black, and one says bushnell while the other says tasco. Picture quality is respectable enough, I can count the points when they're about 30 ft away so thats good enough for me.!
