Default External Battery Box

I am going to mod a D-40 for an external 6v 12ah SLA battery. Anyone here have suggestions for a home made battery box? I have heard ammo cans, and I also have a styrofoam bait box that would be just the right size.

and do you mount your battery around the tree or leave on the ground.......

I know and that has the battery built into it. I put it out in May last year and never had to do anything but get pics till I took it down in November. It worked great"if you get sun"

It is easier then what you want to do and costs the same or less. Plus if you are in a sunny place you wont have to worry about the batterys dieing. I have a 2g chip in mine that hold about 2000 pics so I dont have to mess with it.

Ok,
here's what I'm in the middle of. I have a Bushnell(standardflash)and D-40. The D-40 I bought the Stealth Kit and want to be able to plug in a smaller cheaper solar panel later. The Bushnell I want to wire up to an external that I can also later add a cheaper smaller solar panel to. I do not want the solar panel by Moultrie with the built in battery.
