i have a moultrie trail camera its not supposed to have flash that would spook deer
,yet when i look at his pic i have to wonder.other deer ignore it but this one seams to think
some thing just happened
If it is an IR model, it still emits a red glow. Not to mention that deer can notice them on trees and smell your sent and other foreign odors when you hang them.

I've been hunting and set in the treestand before daylight came, and watched the camera flashing at deer standing there not paying attention to them at all.
I have that same camera. I think the deer are hearing the shutter click more than they notice the red flash. Atleast that is what I have noticed on mine.
As other have said, if the deer is facing the direction of the cam when the IR goes off they can see it but they will not spook as bad as say white flash would.
