Default squirrels after dark is this common

I got a pic of this squirrel well after dark is this common? I always thought they would stay treed at night for safety reasons.

When I was younger an squirrel hunted a lot. I recall seeing them in the trees feeding during a full moon at night.

An insomniac squirrel???? Maybe it's an old male that had to getup to take a leak and decided he may as well have a midnight snack on those apples.

Have lots of squirrel pictures, but never at night.

not uncommon at all during a full moon........a lot of times Ive noticed (cant see the time stamp) but it'll look darker in the camera images due to the flash over powering the natural light, making the background look darker.
