Default How do you De-Bug a Trail Cam ?

I had a new WildView Trail Cam set up on a new property . When I unlocked it and opened it up , it looked like some sawdust was inside the cover . I quickly notice that it was loaded with very tiny bugs / mites , whatever .
I carefully carried the camera back to the truck using the strap . I placed it in a plastic bag and sealed it shut . I sprayed some wasp / hornet spray in a bucket , placed the plastic bag on the bottom and set the camera , strap and all in the bucket and snapped the lid on . I will leave it like that for a couple hours and hopefully kill the little demons !
I went out and checked about 5 hors later and didn't see anything crawling / flying around . I tosed the bag , dumped the spray and gave the camera another treatment just to be safe .
I never had this happen before !

I had ants in my cuddie , I used ant spray and got rid of them . Some times changing the tree helps .

Thanks Charlie .......... I wondered if anyone else had this happen . It was the 1st time ever for me . I wasn't sure if the bug spray would do any damage to the camera . I plan to hunt a new area cloase to home . It is loaded with trails for dirt bikes and ATVs to practice on for competition . The place is loaded with Poison Oak so there are numerous trees that I cannot use . I don't want a flash going off that will distract a rider . Granted , someone on a bike will be long gone before a flash goes off but if there is anyone a bit behind that rider , he could catch the flash . Sine it is sooooo close to home , I don't want to do anything that would get me kicked off the property .
Yes , I will definately change trees ........

I had it happen about a month ago with ants making a nest in mine. I lightly blew mine out with my air compressor and hung it back up on a different tree and dumped out ant poison all around the base of the tree and the camera works fine!!

I had given the camera a double dose of the Wasp Spray and placing it it a sealed pail for several hours . I thought I was okay but as I was installing it , I could see a tiny bug in the PIR and the camera lens . I will check it in a couple days and see how it works . Whatever these tiny bugs are , they have wings . [:@] [:@] [:@]
