Default Want to know what are the best trail cams

I'm in the market to get a new trail camera and have been scouring all the sitesa but have gotten brain overload from all the info.
Is there any place where I can find a simple "ratings" chart on the best cameras out there? I have used several but they have all been lacking in my opinion. Usually slow shutter speed where I get butt pictures or lousy flash pics. I am looking for a No-flash/infared type camera this time. Trying to stay under $500 if possible and $250 would be much better.

It's sounds like you are looking for a good quality trail camera but I think the $250 limit will make that difficult.

I'm curious why you are now looking for an IR camera. In my experience lousy flash and IR pictures are similar in their lousiness.

Snoosdad,

Price isn't that big of an issue. I can spend more if it is needed I was just hoping to keep it low since gas prices are killing me...like everyone else.

I would like the IR due to wanting to check areas the deer are traveling at night so I can figure out their patterns better. Plus I have unwanted visitors on my land I would like to catch.

Looks like the Reconyx RC-60 is a top of the line camera. Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and spend the $600!!!

For deer patterns I think a good flash camera would do just fine, better in my opinion. Unwanted visitors are a whole different subject and I can see the desire for the IR.

We've been testing the Reconyx RC55 and it has done a pretty good job so far. We have also tested the Predator and it is similar to the Reconyx but the picture quality is not quite as good.

My favorites, no particular order.

Reconynx (speed cameratrigger time) 2-3 months Batteries
Moultrie I-40, I-60(all around good cameras ) 3-4 months Batteries
Leaf River ( 24 hour pics or day or night) 3-4 months Battres
All three have good to excellent battery life.
