Default Traditions has a new model coming out

Was talking to someone at Traditions today and they have a new sidelock coming out sometime in August ( I'd suspect it will be a few months after august).

Its a good looking rifle and at a stout 8+ lbs. Nice blade sights that I should be able to see fairly well. Nice long 32" barrel with a 1:48 twist. If its anything like my Woodsman Hawken, It will be a solid shooter.

The Traditions™ Mountain Rifle maintains the classic styling and handling of time-honored sidelock rifles, while offering great performance and affordability. The Mountain Rifle Kit is a .50 caliber percussion rifle with a longer 32" octagonal white barrel. The rifle has an overall length of 48" and weighs 8.15 lbs.

That's good news. The more options out there the better. Maybe they will expand the offering to a slow twist .54 caliber. Heck, why not go all the way and also offer replacement barrels for the .50 with a 1:30 twist, or even a 1:30 twist .45 heavy lead shooter.

That would be a nice rifle if it was slow twist and flintlock. Otherwise I have little interest in another cap gun.

Oh they have a flinter as well, just with the 1:48 twist. I'll have to talk to them about offering a 54cal +

That's all I shoot these days is my 50cal flinter and 58cap perc. So much nicer not having to deal with that store bought stuff lol.

Lefties have always been looked upon as "second class citizens" Ed. I found that out when my son was young and I was outfitting him with outdoor gear while he was growing up.

1:48 twist means i wouldn't be interested . I like them slow and i like them fast but i aint much on a compromise twist like the 1:48.

Not sure what that has to do with me not being interested in a 1:48 twist . You think because an old Hawken was 1:48 that i should automatically like a 1:48!. Sorry to disappoint but like i said , slow or fast for me .
