Default Mold swap...what do YOU think?

Hey fellas...

I have a good number of molds. Some RB and some conical. I'm thinking of taking inventory sometime soon and determining what I need and don't need. I'm not thinking so much about selling them as I am swapping for something I want or need of equal value (and/or condition). Just a thought for now. IF this picks up, we should conduct our trades by PM so as not to clutter the forum. If someone want's something I have and has nothing to trade, I would be willing to sell it outright providing it's not part of a trade deal.

Thoughts? Yay/Nay?...

It's a yea for me. Putting a list of what you have for trade on the open forum and conducting follow-up swaps by PM should work fine.

Well, I know there'll be some glitches but here's what I'm thinkin'...

DON'T list any mold that you personally would not be satisfied with casting bullets/balls with.

DO specify the mold make, caliber, any dimensions, and whether it's a single or DC mold.

DON'T expect a set of mold blocks with handles unless you list your trade as blocks with handles and specify that you expect that same.

DO specify if they are aluminum or steel blocks.

IF, someone you're swapping with insists, and you agree, cast a bullet/ball with the mold you're gonna swap, and leave it in the mold... don't cut the sprue. Let the person on the receiving end cut it. That way they can inspect a drop (if they're that anal).

When you've taken inventory of anything you're willing to trade, post your list here on this thread. From that point on, conduct your swaps, trades, exchanges, or whatever you wish to call them by PM only!!

Anyone have any input on this? I'm sure I've forgotten something...

sounds good. I may have a couple I don't use anymore too. Or may see something I do need.

One thing to consider.
I find no problem with the Swaps at all. You are not offering anything for sale. It would be best to put up a list stating my Inventory. Then conduct your Swaps via PM.
However anything put up for sale via a post here would be against the rules and would be moved to Classified section if someone complained.
However you boys conduct the For Sale business via PMs same as your Swaps. And all will be well.

So please consider that.
Thanks

JW...

Yes I believe everyone understands this is how we intend to do it, by PM only. After listing what they have to swap members can contact one another privately to conduct their trade.

I'm gonna dig out what I have this weekend and determine what I need/don't need and post them. Pretty sure I have several conical molds I'll list. I'm also gonna try to list a few things I'm looking for.

Took a look through some today. So far I have the following, but I'm sure I'll have a few more when I round them all up (pretty sure a buddy of mine has a couple).

(1) RCBS single cavity steel .45 caliber 280gr. hollow based Minie bullet mold.

(1) Lyman single cavity steel .36 caliber 128gr. Thompson Center Maxi-Ball mold

Both without handles and both in very good to excellent condition.

I'm looking for a good quality .445 and .495 RB mold (I have neither).
