Default Opening day

Today April 23, 2005 was the opening day of my permit for turkey hunting here in New Jersey. I had a nice set-up and heard one tom gobble and then the sky opened up and the rain fell and it started to lighting. This was my first ever turkey hunt and I was doing it with a Ron La Clair Shrew Long Bow, 54" nock to nock 51#@26" (My)draw, using 2016's@27" topped with magnus snuffer's 125gr.
I didn't get a turkey today, but it was day one of ten day season for me. My next day is Monday thu Saturday then every Saturday till May 24th. I know this should be on the Turkey board but I am hunting with Traditional Archery Gear and I wanted to let every other traditional hunter know how I did first. Didn't get to shot ..... But had a blast...

Good thing that 'blast' wasn't from a lightning bolt! Hope the weather holds up for you the rest of your season. Good luck!

Glad ya are getting out. I regrete not putting in for a tag last winter. I have never hunted turkey, or realy ever been interested in it. Now that I started shoting a longbow I would love to chase some toms. Keep us posted on the season and good luck.
