Default Carbons and longbow = Dry Firing?

Before I knew any better, I shot a few sessions with my new 45# Montana and some Carbon Express Terminators with 125 grain heads. As I'm new to carbons, I thought spine was all I had to worry about. Now I'm worried that my three shooting sessions were the equivalent of several dry-firings of my bow. Once I found out that bowyers like Dan Quillan warn against carbon arrows and wood bows, I became even more worried. What do you guys think?

By the way, I don't have a grain scale, nor could I find any online resources that tell me what carbons and points are optimal for my bow. So again... what do you guys think?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

No worries. CX Terminators are not plain ol' carbon arrows. They're fiberglass/carbon composite and have plenty of weight to them. The 6075 size I've used weighs exactly the same as my 2315's. The Terminator Select grade is the only ICS type 'carbon' arrow I'll fool with, and I like them a lot.

I've heard of bowyers warning against using carbon arrows - at least, unweighted ones - but never heard anyone saying not to shoot wood arrows from their bows. [:-]

Hey, Arthur. Before I read your message, I looked up the grains-per-inch of the Carbon Express arrows: they're essentially the same weight as aluminum arrows of similar spine. So yeah, I've been worried for no reason. The Expresses are pretty darn stiff, though. I'm gonna have to put some beefy points on 'em in order to spine 'em out right.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

I shoot carbons with my recurve but I put in some nylon rope to add weight to them. it has not hurt the penetration nore the bow seen the states of test performed in Traditional hunting mag. last year and tried it I can say it does work for over 800 shots or more. here ais the this years turkey shot with one and plan on Deer hinting with same setup. 20# 9oz. 1 1/4 rt. spur 1 1.14 left spur 11 in. beard
