Default Nock height........

My longbow seems to be nocked right at 1/8 above center. Is that a good starting poing?

I think that's OK. I usually start right around 1/4 inch.

Easton recommends setting the nock 1/2" above and working down as needed. I'm assuming this recommendation applies to longbows as well as other kinds of bows.

THere is a good tuning guide that was put out by matlock archery (not sure if he's still doing buisness).

Anyways, his idea is to go up to 1.5"es and come down, stopping when you get good arrow flight. Reason is, stopping on the high side of good you'll still have good arrow flight when you do something wrong. Stopping on the low side of good can show arrow flight problems when something is done wrong.

He also talked about shooting vanes successfully (which has been around for the past 10 years or more now as was written in the Longbowshooters digest directly referencing Matlock.

If the section isnt too long I might just have to write it up and post it on here.
