I haven't shot the Savannah, but have heard lots of good things about it. There are several good longbows available for $500 or less. You can get a used custom longbow for that price, and some new ones start at less than $500.

Take a look at what Chad can offer you at www.recurves.com . as for the Savannah, I have one, and it is a very nice shooting bow, dead in the hand and quite. I would definatley recommend, either the Martin Savannah, Martin Vision, or anyone of the Chek-Mate bows, That crusader is nice, and I hear the Thunderbird is a nice shoter also.

Sorry about that DC--I usually just take it for granted that folks know about the bows, and don't try to push them if I'm not asked. If you are ever up this way, or plan to come to any shoots, just let me know and I'll let you shoot whatever I have--at worst, you can shoot my personal Crusader (I know it's not going anywhere).

I've been searching the web for a new bow for the last couple of weeks and I was totally slain by the number and quality of the bows being made. Spend some time on searching for recurve or longbow site or try some of the traditional sites. Believe me you have no, absolutely no idea of how many bow makers that are around and turning out everything from good to unbelievable masterpieces.
