I think I finally did it ! I made a set of wood shafts that are straight, fly well, close ot the right spine and pretty.
I used shafts from Orgeon Mtn Arrows, white POC shafts in 70# spint cut to 28 1/2". I dipped them 4 times in Gasket Laquer (twice from each direction) and then "capped" them 12" from the nock with white GL. I did simple cresting with an Arrow Specialties crester, laquer paints and fletched with some really nice spliced feathers in red/white and blue.
I have a big KS bowhunt in 3 1/2 weeks ......... I'll take carbons too but these will be my primary hunting shafts. I made up some to target shoot ....... and these are my hunting shafts.
Using high quality shafts made the difference. Also the white GL is SO much easier to use for a crown before cresting.
